Detailed description of the data product

This product is the master bias produced by the the Master Bias Calibration Pipeline. It is a FITS file of 144 extensions (one per quadrant) that contains the offset of each pixel relative to the pedestal, calculated as the sigma-clipped mean pixel value on a series of bias calibration exposures.

Name of file:

EUC_VIS_MSR-BIA-000-000000-0000000__[YYYYMMDDThhmmss.s]Z.fits

where the date is the production date.

These bias are obtained shutter closed with an exposure time of 0s.

In bias, straylight is also visible. For now, we have not taken this effect into account when selecting the bias for the production of this product.

The pedestal is a constant bias offset per quadrant, added by the electronics. A rectangular region relative to the readout note, where the image area containing no other signal that the interconnection voltage, is used to measure the pedestal of each frame. That is subtracted from each frame before all measurment.

See https://euclid.roe.ac.uk/dmsf/files/17151/view for more detail.
